The Occupational Safety and Health act was signed into law on December 29, 1970. It is the primary law which governs occupational health and safety. Its goal is to make sure that employers provide employees with a safe environment free from hazards such as toxins, excessive noise levels, mechanical dangers, heat or cold stress, or unsanitary conditions
